DANGEROUS CURVES got down and dirty at the Northcote Social Club with WILLIE J’S 6V6S, THE DEAD AMIGOS, and KING’S VENGEANCE to launch their new single.
First performance on stage tonight was KING’S VENGEANCE. They are a 3 piece band with Demitri Stathopoulos on vocals and guitar, his brother Chris on drums and Bevan Kelly on bass. They play hard and fast, with powerful instrumental riffs played between grunge (like) vocals. I could hear the influence of rock, blues, and heavy metal, with a touch of the 90’s grunge. They played a 30 minute set of 6 songs, including their new single “Mystery”, which has strong drums and bass beats. King’s Vengeance are fresh to the music scene with their debut album coming later in 2025. They are well worth checking out live, or on all the socials and streaming services for their videos, music, and upcoming gigs.

Second special guests are THE DEAD AMIGOS. They came on stage at 9pm and played a 40 minute set, comprising 9 songs. THE DEAD AMIGOS are a 4 piece band led by Max Shepard on vocals and guitar, Sean Ahrbeck on drums, Lachlan Beattie Powell on bass, and Lachlan Bruce on keyboard. THE DEAD AMIGOS have a cool, bluesy stoner sound mixed with a funky keyboard influence and a high energy rock performance. They gave me psychedelic biker vibes. THE DEAD AMIGOS are cool to watch on stage and a sensory delight to listen to too. The last song of their set was dedicated to Max, the lead singer's brother who recently and suddenly passed away, “How long” is a song filled with anguish and loss. A hauntingly beautiful way to close their set.

Third performers of the night WILLIE J’S 6V6S. They are a 3 piece band with Callum Leavey on drums, Seb Robertson on bass, and Willy J Maxwell on vocals and guitar. They play fast and furious rock and at times reminded me of ACDC with Willy’s vocals definitely having a Brian Johnson vibe. They are full of raw energy and classic guitar riffs topped off with powerful pounding drum beats and solid bass rhythms. This trio plays tight classic pub rock music. They played a 35 minute set of 7 punched out songs, with my favourite song being “Take the wheel”. Melbourne based WILLIE J’S 6V6S are well worth putting on your must see live list.

Main act and the reason we are here tonight is DANGEROUS CURVES. I have seen and reviewed DANGEROUS CURVES a number of times, but tonight is special as it is the single launch of “Dancin Dirty”. For those of you who have not listened to DANGEROUS CURVES music they are a 4 piece band with Kym Britten on vocals, Luke Chapman on drums, Alex Richmond on guitar, and Will Saw on bass. They have an 80’s LA hair band vibe with a modern twist. Their new single “Dancin Dirty”, featuring the one and only Chris Poland of MEGADETH on guitar, is a rock classic in the making. With the influences of Chris this tune has a harder rock edge than their previous hits, but they execute it to 80’s hard rock perfection. If you like Poison, Van Halen, and Bon Jovi with a high energy front man, you have to listen to DANGEROUS CURVES, but, if possible, see them live to get the whole rock experience. DANGEROUS CURVES were on stage for over an hour and played 14 songs, even throwing in a rocked out cover of ROXETTE’s “She’s got the look”. You can access DANGEROUS CURVES music on all the streaming apps and socials, with LP’s and CD’s available too.
